Coffee in the City – better than s**? Sometime’s you’d think so on a Monday morning! Here’s a little round-up of our favourite spots to caffeinate in downtown Auckland City.
1. eighthirty on High Street
What feels like a secret location tucked back off High Street, eighthirty is a favourite cafe we visit when we want to sit down with excellent coffee and hide away from the bustle of the city streets.
Beans? eighthirty coffee.
35 High St, Auckland, 1010.
2. Giles on Shortland Street
We adore this little cafe because of the friendly service, excellent coffee (which always comes with a little bite of ginger cake) and the delicious food.
21 Shortland Street CBD, Auckland. Opens weekdays at 7am.
3. Amano on Tyler Street
Both the restaurant and the bakery of Amano have taken the city by storm in the past six months. This place is one of the best locations for freshly baked pastries, bread, sandwiches, take-away breakfast options and other delicious treats.
Beans? Allpress (we think..).
66-68, Tyler Street, Britomart, Auckland.
4. The Store in Britomart
Another favourite is The Store in Britomart – both the take-away side facing Takutai square and the seated area on Galway street. The seated side does quick, tasty breakfasts and it is the perfect spot for a business meeting or catch-up with friends.
Galway St, Auckland.
5. Pollen on Shortland Street
Relatively new to the inner-city scene, we like the fit out of this cafe and that it is spacious, with great indoor-outdoor flow.
Beans? 3 Beans.
55 Shortland St, Auckland.
6. Oaken on Quay Street
Oaken is a great location for meetings or to sit by yourself to do some work. The service can be a bit hit and miss, but the music is always good, they have yummy sandwiches available for take-away and they will make your coffee with your choice of coffee bean (for the coffee connoisseurs).
130 Quay St, Auckland.
