Bread & Circus Wholefoods Canteen

If you’re always on the hunt for quality spots for a healthy brunch or lunch, Bread & Circus in Sydney is a great choice. A boisterous cafe with high ceilings and industrial-styled interiors, it has a laid back atmosphere that suited us perfectly on our most recent visit.

Located in the same food court complex as the naughty-but-nice Pana Chocolate (which we’ve also reviewed), the cafe is a colourful location with loads of organic, fresh fruit and produce atop counters and benches.

Equally colourful is the choice in music, which ranged from Frankie Valli and the  Four Season to some easy-listening Jack Johnson, when we were there.

The shared wooden tables give you plenty of room to fit the well-sized meals in front of you. We had one of their Salad Plates with: fresh shredded cabbage spouts, kale and shiso; lemony roasted cauliflower and Gordal olives; and char grilled eggplant, baby carrot and organic Basmati, in addition to a massive side of haloumi and the “Parmeson not-so-scrambled eggs” with avocado, tomato, baby spinach, fresh herbs and sourdough. The menu changes daily.

To drink, Claudia had a special called the “Preston” and couldn’t stop raving about it – made from dark callebaut chocolate, steamed with early grey milk and a piece of dolphin dark Belgian chocolate, it hit all the right spots.

Casual, healthy and tasty – recommend a visit!
