Nothing starts a weekend better than a workout and brunch, so that’s what Charlotte and I do most Saturdays. On the weekend just been, we swung by Odettes Eatery for breakfast, knowing it had a great outdoor area to enjoy a fresh, sunny morning.
The highlight of this eatery is definitely the relaxed atmosphere and detail to design. Clean, lofty and coloured in hues of blue and sandy wood, the interiors are reminiscent of being at an island resort or a glamorous seaside getaway. Outside there is a partially covered seating area scattered with planters that are filled with bright flowers.
When we ate here previously, we had a similar experience as on the weekend in that the food was well presented and came out relatively quickly, however, there is room for improvement. Charlotte ordered poached eggs on rye ($10), which were unfortunately under-done, while the scrambled spinach with persian feta and prosciutto came atop a citrus sweet pepper ($19) that we found to be unusually spiced and overpowering the other flavours in the meal. On a positive note though, the egg white omelette on dark rye with roast vine tomatoes and chermoula (without the smoked eggplant) ($20) was great – big, light and fluffy!
Charlotte ordered the Storm & India ‘Almond and Macaron’ green tea and thought it was delicious. I also have a soft spot for their fresh muffins and friands baked daily – they are the perfect pick-me-up for alongside your coffee!
The service is pleasant and parking is easy (although its pay and display).
Overall, we think Odettes has stunning interiors with great foundations for a top eatery, but a few tweaks to the food wouldn’t go amiss. With loads of seating it’s a great place for large groups, and worth a visit.
